And while I have a pretty good sense of what looks good and what doesn't ... I have three daughters (my husband doesn't count) who can confirm (or not) what is stylish for a woman my "age". (Did I really type that??) Let's face it, ladies, if you are past the age of 22, the Victoria Secret Pink clothing is not for you. You seriously don't want to be THAT person. So it's only fitting, I suppose, that a daily devotion today really made me stop to think about the "clothes" I wear.
The devotion, taken from the Jesus Calling book, started off with these words ... "Seek My Face at the beginning of your day. This practice enables you to "put Me on" and "wear Me" throughout the day. To "wear Me" is essentially to have My mind, think My thoughts." I love these words and their meaning. This devotion was followed by the scripture passage from Colossians 3:12 -- Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
I think this may become my favorite bible verse AND what I need to look for when standing in front of my closet. It's what I need to look for when I glance at the mirror throughout the day. When I find I need to adjust my physical clothes, do I need to adjust my spiritual clothes as well? And maybe ask ... Does this outfit make me look like Jesus? I hope so. If not, perhaps it's time to go shopping.
